President Richwine raised the question of whether we should have a table at the annual Lancaster Family History Conference March 31 and April 1. It was decided to check to see if anyone from the Dauphin County Historical Society is going.

President Richwine presented the hand-out "It’s Your Turn", a list of questions that will be asked at each meeting. The list is on file with these minutes and will appear in the newsletter.

Karl Fox reported that there are now only two Dauphin County cemeteries, Harrisburg and Woodlawn, on which he doesn’t have information. He is presently reading the stones at Baldwin, and will then compare his results to their burial records book. They want to put the information on findagrave.com.

President Richwine named the committees for 2006. A list is on file with these minutes. Dottie Fox asked for material for the newsletter. She also asked for and got confirmation that our March combined meeting with the West Shore Genealogical Society is at our meeting location. Winnie Gould will contact them to make sure they know that.

Joseph Brechbill spoke to us about the Milton Hershey school and donated a copy of his book "It Was Kitty’s Idea" to our library.

The regular monthly meeting of the Capital Area Genealogical Society was held June 11, 2006, at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church. President Esther Richwine called the meeting to order at 2:30 p.m. Twelve members and guests were present.

Secretary Freda Yocum read the minutes of the May meeting. A motion to accept the minutes was made and seconded. Treasurer Marion O’Neal read the treasurer’s report, which is on file with these minutes.

President Richwine reminded everyone of the picnic July 9 at 1:00 p.m. at the Community Bible Church pavilion, Old Forge Rd. (Rte. 117) between Palmyra and Campbelltown. She asked the group to be thinking about where to go next year, when it will be our turn to host the Palmyra society.

Vice-president Rae Neubaum reported on the tour of the Capitol scheduled for August 13 at 3:00 p.m. We’ll meet in the rotunda; enter by the main door or the back door. Parking is available on Commonwealth Ave. or Fisher Plaza. Two wheelchairs are available. Guests are welcome. Treasurer O’Neal will let the church know we won’t be there for two months.

President Richwine explained that we had to reprint the newsletter due to the printer’s error, and reported that we will put a note in the next volume of the newsletter reminding people to renew their memberships.

President Richwine then opened the floor for genealogical questions. Vice-president Neubaum asked if anyone knew where to find railroad retirement records. It was suggested that she contact the Railroad Retirement Board in Chicago or the railroad museum in Strasburg. Member Karen Schmidt asked if anyone had any idea why people would have moved from Pennsylvania to Minnesota in centuries past. The consensus was because that was where land was available.

Germaine Nadler spoke and showed her collection of mourning jewelry.
