My great-great aunt,
Katherine Elizabeth Hoffman (1878-1936) of Philadelphia, married Charles Baker Crossley (1878-1959) ca. 1898. They lived their entire lives in Harrisburg, first at 1342 7th Street,
then at 1116 North 14th
Street.
They are buried in Shoop’s Cemetery Garden. They had four children: May (d. young); Charles Henry (d.1972 in Harrisburg); Walter (d. 1978 in Vallejo, CA);
and Carrie J. (sometimes listed as Clara).
My query concerns Carrie J. Crossley, born ca.
1905, mother of Leroy C. Shaffer (probably Clarence Leroy Shaffer, 1922-1993)
and Alma Shaffer. Does anyone know what
became of her? How long she lived? If she ever married a Mr.
Shaffer? If she
was indeed the mother of Clarence and Alma? I would be grateful for any information about
this family.
